Important Info!

Just a reminder that April's Sibshop will be held on the third Saturday, April 19th! We have moved the date to accommodate many of you who will be celebrating Spring Break.  Let's hope for some great sunny weather!  See you on April 19th!

March 2014

We were especially "Lucky!" to get to spend this St. Patricks Day Themed Sibshop with all our Sibshop friends.  Our Sibshop began with the creation of a tissue paper rainbow leading to hidden treasure.

Our Sibshoppers hurried to discover and unravel clues that would lead them to their own hidden treasure. They completed the fun scavenger hunt in a bit of a frenzy and then happily devoured their much sought after  treasure of lucky charms.

A discussion on the word "Lucky" produced some great words to describe our Sibshoppers experience as siblings of children with special needs.

Now it was time to test our Sibshoppers luck with some fun "Minute To Win It" games! I think our Sibshoppers were a little surprised by how challenging some of these seemingly simple games turned out to be.  Balancing three balloons in the air is lot trickier than it looks! Bouncing a ball into a bucket on top of your head without spilling takes a great deal of coordination.  Our Sibhoppers seemed to have fun as they tried to complete these tasks.

"Human Bingo" is a great way for our Sibshoppers to get to know one another a little better! Who amongst your friends can wiggle their ears? Who has a pet bird? Who knows the name of their siblings special needs? Chocolate gold coins were at stake, so our Sibshoppers were quick to find some fun facts about their peers.

We wrapped March's Sibshop up with a little outdoor play. We were lucky to have some mild weather!

February 2014

Happy Valentines Themed Sibshop!
Our Sibshoppers started off this months Sibshop by creating "Love Bugs" for their Siblings. These personalized, handmade, unique Valentines were a gift of love as each Sibshopper shared at least four things they love and appreciate about their sibling. Despite any challenges our Sibshoppers may face in their unique families, they sure do love their siblings!

We played a raucous game of  bean bag toss and useless machine. It was too raucous in fact for me to get any photos. We were too busy chasing after poorly thrown beanbags!

A great session of "Aunt Blabby" followed our active games. The kids shared their advice with other sibs soliciting advice on how to deal with different challenges like embarrassment, fear, sadness, and worry. We have got some super smart Sibshoppers with extremely high emotional IQs.

Man, did these kids love playing some "Push Pin Soccer!" Girls vs. boys always brings out the competitive side in our Sibshoppers. The girls had height on their side, but the boys were scrappy and determined.  So fun!

What a great group of kids!
Lunch was followed by a sweet game of Valentine Bingo. What these kids won't do for a piece of brightly colored sugar! The one thing they can't seem to do is be quiet when I am calling out the squares! :) I guess the noise indicates that they are becoming really good friends! A great time was had by all!
We love Sibshops!
