November 2011 (More to come!)

We had a lot of fun this month making our very own Sibshop Movie. There is so much great footage and we will be posting clips of it soon on this blog. Also we will make a copy of the whole movie put together for each family. Thanks to everyone who participated. And a big THANK YOU and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to George who we celebrated with for turning 11 on 11/11/11!
Just a reminder: There is no sibshop for the month of December but we will reconvene with more fun and new activities starting Saturday, January 14th.

October 2011

This month was our Parent/Sibling Sibshop. All of the parents were such good sports and participated along side their siblings with all of the activities.
We made paper bag gargoyles for our trickle-in activities.

Some got really creative. We saw one-eyed, two eyed, and some nose-eyed gargoyles in the bunch. Each turned out so unique like all of our sibshoppers that come each month.

Parents and Sibs participated in group juggling.

It got a little bit more confusing as more and more balls were added to the mix.

Our useless machines turned out to be... well... quite useless...but fun!

Last month we started a sib-tree. This month our sib tree grew more full with added hands and our parents nice comments about each of their sibs.

"Do you love your neighbor?" was probably the favorite activity of the day.

Parents and siblings were running, laughing, and scrambling to find an empty seat.

We made fruit and candy Kabobs for desert.

Some included lots of fruit...

...others were a little more heavy on the candy side.

A couple of months ago, we made a wish box and filled it with our personal wishes for ourselves and for our families.

We read some of those and added more wishes to the box.

Perhaps one day those wishes will come true.

We sure appreciate all of our parents that participated this month. We had such a good time. We can't wait to see your sibshoppers next month. We will be making some short videos similar to the ones we have watched in the past. So come with smiles and ready to have a good time.

September 2011

Facetags to get things started this fine Sibshop morning!
This month we played a lot of our favorite Sibshop games. Including Human Knots.

We made a Sibtree with our handprints for leaves.

We wrote about our personal experiences with our siblings with special needs. We sure do love them.

Triangle tag.

And lots of Creamies!!

There were enough for everyone to have 2! Woohoo! (Don't tell Mom)

Our Colorful Sibtree.

We made tiedie t-shirts last time for Sibshops. We had a very generous donor that paid for all of the materials. We wanted to Thank them for their kindness and generous donation. We wrote them and let them know how much fun we have each month at Sibshops.

Undercover leader was a hit. Except these Sibshoppers were experts so it was very difficult to stay undercover.

Our Sibshop Group!! We love you guys. Come back next month for a fun parent/ kid sibshop.

August 2011

Tina Dyches talked to our sibshoppers about bullying and the importance of standing up to those who are bullying others in school.
The kids tied their shirts in many different ways. All the shirts turned out differently. The finished products were as original as each of the sibshoppers that attend each month.

Sibshoppers read examples of bullying and then acted out what they learned from each of the situations illustrated in the books.

Subways were served for lunch. Yum!

Water activities occupied each kid while they waited for their turn to dye their shirts.

Ty-dying t-shirts is a messy fun process.

A young honorary sibshopper joined in the fun.

We love all of our sibshoppers that come each month and all of the wonderful volunteers that help out. We always have a good time and learn so much about the special place that we have in our family. Thank you Sibshoppers. You are Amazing! Enjoy the new school year and come back next month for a great time.
