August 2017 Annual End of Summer Celebration

It's August and the start of school is right away the corner which means it is time for our annual End of Summer Celebration!

We did a variation on our theme of tie-dye and did a Sharpie Tie Dye Pillowcase.  The kids colored their pillowcases to their hearts content with Sharpie Markers and then if they choose, they sprayed them with some rubbing alcohol which made the colors spread and blend.

Our Sibshoppers created some pretty awesome and colorful pillowcases on which to lay their heads! Hopefully their masterpieces will soothe them as they start getting back into a sleeping routine for the school year.  That, or the bright colors will keep them up all night!

Everything looks a lot easier on pinterest that it actually turns out to be in execution.  This water pistol cup race proved to be no exception! The kids did get to shoot water guns and get a little wet, so it wasn't a total loss.

This spongy version of tic-tac-toe actually got a little competitive.  Who knew?

After lunch we ate popsicles and more popsicles and played a marble race game where you grab the marbles out of cold water with only your toes. We have some incredibly dextrous Sibshoppers.

The ice cube melt activity turned out to be a little painful.  You might have deduced as much from this Sibshoppers face.  In teams of two, the Sibshoppers were given an ice cube that they had to completely melt using only their hands. Those tiny cubes are awfully cold!
We did a few minutes of slip and sliding to end our End of Summer Celebration!
