October 2025

 Welcome to our October Sibshop.

Our trickle in activity was to engineer a Spooky Spider with crayons, pipe cleaners and styrofoam balls.

We spent some time getting to know one another during our Welcome & Introductions and then made some exploding ghosts and pumpkins! We prepped the materials and got everything ready to create an explosion!

Following our fun science experiment, we gathered inside to discuss what we saw.

Our ghosts and pumpkins (bags) started out all chill and good. Then they started to simmer as some stress was added to them (fill the bag with vinegar, drop in some baking soda) and then they eventually exploded! We discussed how we sometimes do the same.
Our Sibshoppers gave some examples of when they feel nice and chill and good (happy, relaxed). We then talked about how we feel when we start simmering (headache, itchy, annoyed, neck pain). If we don't cope with that simmer, we often explode and see things like yelling, crying, mean words and tantruming. Our Sibshoppers had great ideas of how to cope when we start simmering and hopefully interrupt an explosion. Some examples include talking to someone, spending some time alone, breathing and walking away.

We enjoyed a Halloween themed lunch together while listening to some spooky music.

We burned off some energy with a couple active games that involved skeletons, spiders, pumpkins and eyeballs!

Our final activity of the workshop was some Halloween B-I-N-G-O! The kids love a sweet treat, the prizes and the anticipation of this classic game. As certain items were called for Bingo, our Sibshoppers answered a corresponding question before placing their mark on the card.

For example, the cauldron is chosen and our Sibshoppers are asked "What is your siblings favorite food?" The mummy is called and our Sibshoppers are asked "Has your siblings ever had to be hospitalized?" The cat is chosen and the corresponding question is "What is your sibs favorite animal? What is your favorite animal?" We enjoyed learning more about our Sibshoppers brothers and sisters and it is fun for the kids to see what their siblings share in common.

See you in November!
