Happy Holidays

As a reminder, Sibshops will NOT be held in December. We will resume workshops in January. We meet the second Saturday of each month (except for Dec) from 10 am - 12:30 p.m.

From all of us at Sibshops of Utah County, we wish you and yours the happiest of holidays

 and a wonderful new year.

November 2024

Welcome to our final Sibshop of the year 2024.

We gathered to create some fun "Hershey's Turkeys".

What a great flock of fun, colorful turkeys.
Our Sibshoppers insist a group of turkeys is called a Gobble!

After some introductions, we played a silly and sometimes frantic game of Bean Bag Toss and Useless Machine. The kids had a great time and we laughed and laughed.

The Gratitude Game was up next. Gratitude has been shown to improve one's overall health and mood so we took some time to test it out. We give it two thumbs up. We loved hearing what people were grateful for and why. Each Sibshopper grabbed a piece of paper randomly and shared something they were grateful for from that category. Categories included animal, restaurant, person, memory, body part, color and more.

"Scrabble Scramble" was up next on the agenda. Each team is given a set of alphabet letters with one of each consonant and 2 of each vowel. They are then given a category and must produce a word that fits in the category. The team who gets the word the fastest earns a point. You can earn another point for spelling your word correctly and yet another point for the longest word.

It was a super close match, but Team Yellow earned one additional point to claim the win!

Lunch was tasty and we enjoyed pizza, bananas and apples with caramel dip. Yummy!
It was more giggles as we played a few quick rounds of "Boom Clap Snatch!"
Take a close look and check out these amazing smiles.

Our final activity of the workshop was "My Very Special Dream". Our Sibshoppers shared dreams they have for themselves as well as dreams for their siblings with special needs.

From all of us at Sibshops of  Utah County, we thank all of our Sibshops families for an incredible year.
We are so grateful for all of you!

October 2024

Welcome to our Halloween Themed October Sibshop.

We tested our memory with this spooky memory tray. Our Sibshoppers had 2 minutes to look at the tray and memorize the items. Then they had 2 minutes to write down everything they could remember while the tray was out of sight. Overall, they did really well remembering!

We tried our hand at some flying tea bag ghosts and found we didn't quite get the results we were hoping for. While they did move around a bit, we couldn't get the ghosts to truly take flight as the breeze in the air toppled them before takeoff.

They did have some great faces though!

Life size Tic-Tac-Toe got the blood pumping. You work as a team to get 3 in a row before your opponent. It's surprising how difficult this simple game can become when you add the athletic element!

For lunch we all made our own english muffin pizza mummies. Delicious!

Escaping the laser maze without touching the lasers isn't quite as easy as our Sibshoppers tend to think. Good thing they aren't true lasers!

Take a look at our fun foil transfer Halloween pics! The kids were so creative and the colors turned out awesome.

We also spent some time talking about our fears. We talked about sharks, spiders, failure, not fitting in, making friends, going to a new school and so much more. We talked about the things that scare our sibs as well. One sibling couldn't live without their tablet--losing it would be the scariest thing of all. Our Sibshoppers shared ways that they can help their siblings cope with feelings of fear. Giving hugs, protecting them, being friendly, and preventing stress were some ways they and their siblings could cope with fears of all sorts.
