Welcome to Sibshops 2017!
Our first activity was to create some colorful melted bead suncatchers. Our Sibshoppers were invited to use their imagination and come up with any design, shape or pattern they could dream up.
Here are a couple fun circle suncatchers! Hopefully all our families have found somewhere to display their fun suncatchers--trees out in the yard, kitchen windows, from your rear view mirror maybe.
After some quick introductions and review of our Sibshop Rules {1. Have Fun, 2.) Be Kind 3.) Be Respectful and 4.) Keep It Confidential}, we played a fun game of "Undercover Leader".
With a group this large it can be tricky to figure out who is in fact leading the group!
Many of you are probably familiar with the classic board game "Guess Who." It's been around awhile and there are lots of fun editions out there! Have you ever played in a large group of real live people? It's a little trickier, but can be fun. The two teams did what they could to out guess one another but they ended in a tie.
Get prepared for some super fuzzy and blurry photos. Our next photos show us playing a great, active game of "Ups and Downs". It is totally simple--one team wants to keep the cups turned right side UP and the other team wants to keep the cups turned upside DOWN. Everyone races to get their cups pointed in their direction and whoever has the most cups turned their way when the buzzer goes off is the Big Winner!
And again, after 4 rounds of play, our Sibshopper teams TIED!
Our main educational and discussion activity for the day is called "Sound Off!" Our Sibshoppers took the opportunity to sound off to someone of their choice about what is good, bad or so-so about having a sibling with special needs.
We wrapped things up with a yummy lunch of our own home made "Lunchables" and viewed our Sibshop blog from the year 2016. We had a great time looking at the past year and planning for the year to come.
