March 2015 "Lucky Day"
In anticipation of St. Patrick's Day, April's Sibshop focused on the theme of "Luck". We asked the Sibshoppers to tell us what six wishes they would most like granted were they to encounter a leprechaun at the end of the rainbow.
Our Sibshoppers wished for a rainbow of things including: to own Target, a machete, three more wishes, a dog, to go to BYU for college, to work for Disney.
We played some fun games including Four Corners (a classic favorite), some wiffle ball and frisbee, as well as Irish Hot Potato (photo below). We are sometimes surprised and pleased by how the simpler, traditional games are received by the Sibshoppers. Hot Potato was a hit! When each child got "out", they were asked to share a reason why they felt lucky to have a sibling with special needs.
"Roll A Leprechaun" resulted in some clever and slightly angry looking caricatures!
Our final activity was to create a "Rainbow of Wishes" for our siblings with special needs. Our Sibshoppers know their siblings well and thought of wonderful gifts to bestow upon their sibs. These included wrapping paper, pokeman cards and even a baby turkey!
As always, we are Lucky to have some wonderful Sibshoppers!
